Ever dreamed of climbing inside the Great Pyramids of Giza? Ok, maybe it was just me, but I guarantee it is something that you will remember for a lifetime.
Many years ago, my family and I went to Egypt for a family vacation. I could like at least a dozen “bucket-list” items, there is so much to see and experience. Fortunately, the time period that I went was before the revolutions. Although, I think it has settled down some since then, it is still a dangerous country and I would use caution if you consider going to Egypt.
This picture shows the entrance into the pyramids where tourists can climb up into one of the tomb chambers. There are no photos allowed inside the pyramids. The climb up is through a small passageway that is only big enough for one person, but serves as the way in and out of the pyramid. Once you get to the middle, there is essentially an emptied-out room (primarily from looters, but also museums). Just standing in the middle of the Great Pyramid is an incredible feeling.
Please do note that this was from the early 2000s, things have obviously changed and I recommend checking with the egyptian tourism board before traveling to make sure of the updated rules and guidelines.
