Get into the Christmas spirit by visiting one of the “Christmas Cities” in the United States.
Bethlehem, PA was founded in 1741 when colonies settled in the area and set up communities on Christmas Eve – thus the name. Located in the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem is one of three towns (Allentown and Easton are the two others). Conveniently located near Philadelphia and New Jersey, with a slightly longer drive to NYC, it is a great location to visit.
Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem, PA typically runs from November 22 – December 22 (dates will vary by year).

It represents one of the largest Christmas markets in Pennsylvania (and the country). It is worth a trip to this beautiful city.
Tip: buy tickets online. It is worth skipping the ticket line!

Located near the SteelStacks, the market has indoor and outdoor portions. Parking can be a challenge, but there seemed to be multiple parking lots to use. We recommend trying to use the lot directly next to the market (but note that this will fill up quickly). Other lots are slightly further away, but might be worth checking first to avoid driving around for an extended period of time.

The market is primarily indoors. Perfect time to get some Christmas shopping in. Here you will find vendors from all over the area selling handmade and homemade goodies that you can take home as a gifts (for yourself included). You can easily spend hours wandering the stalls. Make sure to take advantage of the food samples and don’t forget the wine counter on the end of the tent.

After working up your appetite, head over to the food tent. You will likely be able to catch a performance or live music. Food offerings from traditional Pennsylvania Dutch to American style, there is something for everyone.

End the day in the courtyard, grab (another) cup of hot cocoa, or warmed beverage of choice. Make sure to head to the end of the courtyard and get a picture with the large tree and lighted reindeer.

This is an experience you don’t want to miss!
